Morning Shadows

On one of my portable hard drives, I have a Shadows folder containing all sort of shots of my own shadow, the dog's shadow, other shadows. There may even have been some moonshadows in there. The shadow-light composition above was the driveway this morning. I was getting in the car to go to a physical therapy appointment, but had to take a couple of shadow shots first. Fortunately, I had a camera other than my phone with me. The phone is okay, but one goal of this blog is to get me back in the habit of using a camera camera as opposed to a phone one.

Hidden in Plain Sight

The number of cameras (two) and attempts (many) to get a photo I liked to use here is one of the reasons I re-started this blog. I first tried the new pocket digital camera I bought a few months ago. It's a Sony, and it did not cost much, but it seems nowhere as easy to use or as good quality as the Pentax it was supposed to replace. I reverted to one of my DSLR Canons and eventually got a shot I like. The kangaroo was a gift from two of my Aussie friends; the plant is one younger son left behind at one of the transitions in his life. Possession being nine-tenths and all, it's mine now.

There's a Reason this Post Has Two Photos

I got a new lens for the new camera today (thanks, Adorama!). It's a pretty sweet 18-270 mm Tamron. These are the first photos I took with the lens: The top one is the 18, and the bottom one is the 270. I'm thinking that this baby and I are going to get along real well in Vietnam and Australia; I do indeed.

They're Both Keepers

This is the first photo I took with the new camera. Younger son took the first three, but this is my first. Yeah, I think I'll keep both the new camera and the old cat.

Progress

I have at least opened the camera manual and charged the batteries. Ya gotta start somewhere.

There's a Table Somewhere Under There

I usually try to do too much while the husband is away, and this trip is no exception. I'm working more hours for pay than I usually do and trying to work my way down a long, long list of littles. I hate little things so much more than big ones. The littles are the killer, not the bigs. In the meantime, the new camera body arrived, though all I've had time to do so far is unpack the box and charge one of the batteries.

Emptying the Wallet

I have been mentally debating with myself about a new camera for some time now. I bought my current Canon xTi off Craigslist three years ago. I'm now somewhere above 30,000 in terms of the number of images shot, with another grand adventure on tap for the spring. Today I ordered a Canon 60D body with some accessories from Adorama. Spending that close to four digits to the left of the decimal place is never easy, but I did enough research to know I got a very good deal on a very good camera.
