Our Christmas visitor, Biscuit, needs a new forever home sooner rather than later, so we're taking her on a permanent basis. Members of her first family (the non-allergic ones at least) are getting unlimited, unsupervised visitation rights. The post title above reflects the fact that as Biscuit moves in, younger son moves on and out, leaving for Seattle a week from today. Perhaps the canine addition will distract me from missing the departed human quite so much. And perhaps not.

Trading a Kid for a Dog?

Into the Window
This little guy flew into the dining room window this morning. He was uncertain for a while but flew away just fine. Kind of like some kids I know.

Who Would Have Thought It?
If you had told me 35 or even 30 years ago that I would count "mom" as the most challenging and fulfilling job I ever held, I would likely have laughed in your face. Yet here I am, in my 56th year of life, saying exactly that. They're good kids, grown, yes, but still kids at heart. I'd like to think they get at least that much from me.
