Watch the Birdie!

The deer around our house are pretty calm. They can be grazing in the yard when we come out of the house. They look up, then go back to eating. They've learned that we aren't the enemy. (I just hope they realize that other people might be.) The birds who come to our feeder are also getting quite brazen.. The two pigeons (and one squirrel) who were on the ground beneath the feeder ran off when I approached, but the little guy at the feeder just kept right on eating. I went there to take a photo of the fleece ball the birds and squirrels pull at to get materials for their nests. I decided I liked the photo with the bird, wee thought it may be, better than the close up of the fleece ball.

Outside the Window

The feathers on the upstairs window were accompanied by some on the eave below it. It's not clear whether the bird survived to fly away or fell prey to the resident Mystery Cat who lives below the porch below the eave.

Into the Window

This little guy flew into the dining room window this morning. He was uncertain for a while but flew away just fine. Kind of like some kids I know.

Faster than a Speeding Bullet?

We have at least two hummingbirds that regularly fight over our feeder. In fact, one sometimes sits in a tree waiting for the other one to get to the feeder before he swoops down and drives him away. Supposedly, adding another feeder won't help even if it's put some distance away from the first feeder.
