I'm hoping to suppress my very real fear of crowds long enough to go to a protest on the Lawn this afternoon. A subset of the university's governing board fired (well, demanded the resignation of) the relatively new president in a process cloaked in secrecy. The board is meeting to name an interim president this afternoon, the announcement of which will be greeted by, the organizers hope, thousands of faculty, staff, students, and just plain people standing in protest of the original decision and/or the process by which it was made. It promises to be an interesting day if not week around here.
