Shades of Green

It's raining a lot lately, and this afternoon's shower left the outside squeakingly and cleanly green. I think blue is supposed to be a calming color, but I find these greens calming as well. Calm is a good thing. Green is a good color.

The Shadows, Like My Days, Are Long

It was another long day, or is, since it's far from over yet. The weariness I feel is probably what keeps me from freaking out about the lots of little that remains to be done for the looming departure. I am hoping to sleep better once the trip starts even on unfamiliar mattresses in unfamiliar rooms. Perhaps the days will not seem so long then.

Snow Blossoms

This is the dogwood tree outside the dining room window. Its blossoms today are white, thanks to yesterday's snow. I expect that the scene will be very different tomorrow or even later today since today's temperatures are predicted to rise high enough to melt much of this. At least we got a brief glimpse of the beauty that winter can be and on a Monday holiday to boot.

I See ... Well, Not Icy

It's not a great photo, but it filled up the memory card so I didn't take another. This is the same tree that was covered in ice in Sunday's post. It was in the 60s Fahrenheit today, more spring-like than wintery. The peaks and valleys in temperature make it hard to get into any sort of routine. They just feel, well, wrong.

The View this Morning

Where is younger son, who claims to have climbed scaffolding to the top of a very historic building on the grounds of the local university, when we have scaffolding, albeit smaller, here at home? It is likely a good thing he's not here. He'd probably offer me lessons in scaffolding, and I'd probably accept them.
