A Little Touchy?

Inside all these spikes is an echidna, one of the amazing creatures I met up close and personal today. The spikes are not really piercingly sharp, which is a good thing. They think this one is a male, but it is difficult to sex an echidna due to the fact that they dislike being unrolled. This is but one of the new things I learned today.

Inside the tipi at the visitor center at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park. The kids on the various school field trips there probably did not appreciate what they were seeing and hearing about what it took to herd buffalo (more correctly, bison) miles and miles ending with leading them to run off the edge of a cliff. We adults, on the other hand, found it simply amazing.
